Spring online school “EU implementation of bioenergy technologies for waste recycling”

The spring online school for everyone, which includes the course “EU implementation of bioenergy technologies for waste recycling” within the Jean Monnet module “Bioenergy innovations in waste management: European experience in implementing a circular economy” (BIOINWASTE) of the EU Erasmus+ program under Grant Agreement No. 101085172 (2023-2025), which will begin in mid-April, was announced by Associate Professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection Technologies Yelizaveta Chernysh. A recording of the announcement can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rk08Mtuyuag

What is this project?

We will organize webinars and virtual tours for university students and staff, active citizens, and government officials.

We will be able to: improve our knowledge and adopt the best European practices of implementing biogas technologies with the production of biofertilizers and processing of agricultural and municipal waste, as well as sewage sludge.

The project will promote the European Green Deal through an online course that includes the following topics:

  1. Introduction to the EU experience in bioenergy innovations in waste management.
  2. Bioeconomy as a basis for green growth.
  3. Characterization of feedstocks for biofuels (derived from food waste, sewage sludge, etc.).
  4. Unexplored and potential raw materials for sustainable production of bioproducts in the EU.
  5. The potential role of bioenergy in addressing carbon capture and sequestration.
  6. Research ecosystem in the EU: growth of bioenergy technologies.
  7. Case study of the implementation of bioenergy technologies for waste processing in the EU.
  8. Environmental safety of the EU in the context of waste biorefining.

Organization of a training course (online), which provides for the acquisition of competencies in the field of European experience in bioenergy technologies for waste processing for the general academic and non-academic community. Everyone is welcome to join the course!!!

Based on the results of the course, participants will receive digital certificates of completion of 60 hours (2 ECTS) of the training component.

The course will help to address the existing gaps in practical skills in the implementation of bioenergy and waste management technologies at the local level, as well as the lack of an introductory course in the curriculum to study the experience of environmental safety in other countries in general and European countries in particular.

The course will become an integral part of the highly qualified professional training of our students within the framework of a multidisciplinary approach to environmentally friendly biotechnologies in the specialties 101 “Ecology” and 183 “Environmental Protection Technologies”.
